A family house, shared carefully
Bardon Hill Manor is not run by a letting agency. It is looked after by two owners who live nearby and answer the phone themselves.
Why we own the manor
We bought the manor after years of borrowing friends' houses for big family weekends and never quite finding one that worked. We wanted a place where twelve people could be together without being on top of each other, and then we wanted to share it.
Why Bardon Hill
The house sits beneath the highest point in Leicestershire, where Charnwood Forest runs into the National Forest. On a clear morning you can see the Peak District from the top of the hill. It is also gloriously practical: minutes from Coalville, and under half an hour from Leicester, Loughborough and East Midlands Airport.
What we love about it
The morning light in the kitchen. The long table that seats twelve without anyone perching on a corner. Six bedrooms and seven beds, so a family with in-laws or friends who would otherwise be split across three cottages can all stay in one house.
Our approach to hosting
Present when you need us, out of the way when you do not. Clear directions before you arrive, a straightforward check-in from 3pm, and no clipboards or surprise charges.
How we look after guests
Professional housekeeping between every stay and a real person on the end of the phone. Booking on this site goes straight to the owners, so there is no listing-site service fee added at checkout.
